Live racing is now held from April through November. The track’s main events, the Grade 3 Indiana Derby and the Grade 3 Indiana Oaks are held during the summer.
In 2018, Caesars Entertainment purchased Indiana Grand and in 2022, the facility underwent a new name change to Horseshoe Indianapolis to identify with the company’s brand. Hoosier Park’s parent company, Centaur Gaming, purchased then Indiana Downs in 2013 and changed the name to Indiana Grand and moved all Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse racing to Indiana Grand. Located in Shelbyville, about 20 miles southeast of Indianapolis, Horseshoe Indianapolis (formerly Indiana Grand) opened for its inaugural season of Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse racing in 2003, bringing the thrill of live racing to area residents.
